South Carolina law provides three legal options for home schooling: Statutes 59-65-40, 59-65-45, and 59-65-47 of the Compulsory Attendance law. The full text of the law is found here: www.scstatehouse.net/code/t59c065.php
Please be aware that neither SCDOE nor SCHEA endorses or monitors any of these options. The services and quality of services vary widely; for example, not all options offer class ranking or Palmetto Fellow Scholarship processing. Therefore SCHEA recommends that parents seek personal recommendations from other home educators as well as carefully investigating the level of service prior to joining any of these groups. Also note that information given is that provided to SCHEA by the accountability group.

A $10.00 discount is given to members of Tri-County Home Educators support group. Our group offers accountability provided by member volunteers. All members must bring a plan book, portfolio, and progress report to two “check-off” meetings annually, in January and May. Check-off meetings are held in the Seneca and Clemson/Pendleton areas. We also offer a $10.00 discount to members who attend the SCHEA convention during the summer of the same homeschool year.
